  • Improved digestive health

  • Better sleep

  • More energy

  • Better mood

Shortly I will go over 8 ways to make clean eating apart of your busy day

First, I wanted to share with you a little bit about me and why I view clean eating as a priority and believe we should all embrace.

I’ve grown up where eating has always been a sticky issue.

    Maybe you can relate.

Growing up in the 80’s and 90’s, I saw how I looked and my weight as the ideal goals in life and where to focus my attention on.

I grew up looking up to model’s and actresses and was told that smoking cigarette's and doing drugs would keep my weight down.

My mom had no idea what clean eating was or any form of healthy eating so I learned how to eat on the go and devour fast food and sugary treats.

Knowing in the back of mind that when I get home I will then purge (so it doesn’t count ;)

Now, my mom had no idea I did drugs or was a compulsive eater that purged almost every time I ate.

I was sneaky and kept it very quiet.

The thing is my mom and I focused on low fat eating because in the 80’s and 90’s that’s what the experts told us to do.

So my mom and I loved sweet n low and added that to everything!  We would also eat Snack Wells and Rice Cakes which were low fat snacks that were really popular.  I’m sure you remember those wonderful cardboard treats!

I never realized that all the sugar, empty calories and fake foods were causing me to come back for more, acting like a drug while making me feel like I was on a roller coaster ride that I couldn’t get off, no matter how hard I tried.

To top it all off, I didn’t put the connection together that my digestive issues and getting colds, flus, etc. all the time could be because of all of this unhealthy eating.

Fast forward to about 10 years ago, I started to focus on clean eating and it has changed my life.

I am a curvy woman but I am healthier than I ever have been.  I don’t believe that being thin always equates to being healthy.

I believe that what you put in your body and mind are more important than the weight on the scale.

My digestive system works better than it ever has and I do not binge eat nor am I bulimic anymore.

I still have gotten an occasional cold or flu but overall my health has improved immensely.  I know this is because of how I fuel my body.

I want to give you a couple of tips that have worked for me over the years.

Before I go any further, if believe that if you are suffering from an eating disorder, please reach out to a professional that has experience with eating disorders.

I bet my life would’ve been a lot easier if I reached out and got help from a professional.

Below are 8 ways to make clean eating apart of your busy day

Just like with exercise, taking on a new task with your health in mind can be daunting in the beginning, but it does not have to be. The ways in which we choose to fuel our bodies will affect everything we do. Eating clean will have you feeling better from the inside out.

      • Drink plenty of water.  To keep it simple have water with you at all times and work on increasing your intake every week.

      • Limit caffeine to one to cups of coffee a day and start adding some herbal tea

      • Eat green, leafy vegetables to maximize vital micronutrients

      • Cook as many of your own meals as you can

      • Add more protein and healthy fats to your meals and less refined carbs.

      • Learn to embrace the grocery store and shop the perimeter.

      • Cook Intuitively. Listen to your instincts when cooking. Ask yourself what you need to use up in your pantry and refrigerator instead of being so rigid with a recipe. Think of recipes as guides instead.

      • Learn to batch cook which saves you stress and time!
